Invasive Species

Ecological surveys often result in identification of invasive species of flora and fauna such as Japanese knotweed, Himalayan balsam and signal crayfish.  It is against the law to allow the spread of these species as they out-compete our native species, resulting in a loss of biodiversity and wider impacts on ecosystem services such as the choking up of watercourses.  In addition some invasive species (Japanese knotweed in particular) can have severe detrimental effects on insurance and mortgages.

Our surveyors identify and assess invasive species and, in liaison with the client, put together recommendations and management plans to address the problem and undertake practical management works.
